A thankful heart

Writer's picture: poemapoema

My heart is full right now. I am very tired too - but my heart is brimming with thankfulness. I have had a busy season of successful and enjoyable Christmas Fairs and Open House events, which have drawn to a close this past weekend.* One of my goals for 2023 was to sell my jewellery at more events and meet customers and potential customers in person. I think I definitely managed to do that this year! With a Ladies Golf Day early in the year, Open House dates in the summer and a series of Christmas events, I have achieved what I set out to do. And I have to say, I certainly enjoy the interaction and conversations with people. In order to get the show on the road, I have honed my set-up and now have three Ikea boxes, one large bag and a banner stand as my event kit. It has a designated place at home and along with my kit list, (I love a list, I do!) means that, so far, I have been pretty organised for each event. My lovely husband has helped me a little bit - he was designated driver to somewhere further afield, for which I was TRULY grateful - both for the company en route and for driving to an area well known by him but not by me. And the pizza slice he bought me was a welcome treat too!!

*If you’re eagle eyed and remember all my events, you will have spotted that I was originally planning to be at an event in Hedge End - however, this has been cancelled so, as of last Saturday, I have now fulfilled all my advertised dates.

In other news, the past few weeks have found me with an additional job, albeit a temporary one.

‘Why take on a new job at the very busiest time of year?’, I hear you ask.

Well, that is a VERY good question!

And the answer is very simple - I am working for a local small handmade jewellery brand during their busy Christmas season. I am supporting them predominantly with packing orders but I have the joy of learning new skills, as their jewellery style is different to mine and they are teaching me how to make their pieces! Such fun! It’s a lovely creative studio and I am incredibly grateful to God for opening this short-term opportunity, where I can discover new techniques and work alongside other jewellers - and most amazingly, (miraculous, even) only a very short distance from my home! I only have three more weeks of my temporary contract - I shall really miss it when it’s over…

But for now, in the three jobs I find myself in, each is extremely busy in the lead up to Christmas, meaning I am much more tired than usual. However, I am enjoying so much of what I am doing, it is fulfilling and worthwhile. Truly wonderful to be immersed in more jewellery making…

…though the food cupboards have recently been similar to those of Mother Hubbard, as I ran out of time to go shopping!!

In light of this, it will probably come as no surprise that I am not able to make anything new before January. I hope you will find what you need from my stock or from my Etsy shop over the coming weeks but I’m sorry to say I have no capacity to fulfil any new orders. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for understanding. And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for your love and support for my small business, it brings such joy to know you’re with me on this adventure! With love,
