Many of us are familiar with the words in Ecclesiastes 3 which begins, "There is a time for everything..."
...verse 4 was particularly relevant, "A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance."
This is the story of how Jubilee Silver began. Jubilee Silver is one part of Poema - the most recent branch of my journey and was born after a time of loss.
I craved something new and exciting after the sadness. I didn't know what the new and exciting 'thing' would be, so after consulting with Google, I found myself signed up to a 2 hour taster session learning to use silver clay. That led to a 5 week course when I was pretty much hooked!
Around the same time, as a Christmas gift, my sister gave me this lovely picture. It was a timely reminder of a new season: 'a time to dance' (in my heart at least - I have co-ordination and balance issues!) A time to begin something new and find purpose and direction again.
Since then, I have indulged myself purchasing equipment and further courses in more traditional jewellery skills, so the pieces I now create are a combination of silver clay and sterling silver.
Selling my initial designs coincided with my 50th year, hence Jubilee Silver. As Jubilee is about celebration, new beginnings, release and restoration, after such a rocky season, it felt like the trumpets were announcing a promise of something good!
So this little space is my happy place. It's not very big and is rarely this tidy but I can saw and hammer, melt and mould to my little heart's content!
And let's see where this adventure takes me...
