…and breathe…

I’ve just returned from a break in the sun and boy, was it a welcome escape!

As you may remember, the sun and I have a harmonious relationship, so eleven days in Madeira was the perfect tonic!

Honestly, I spent much of the time feeling completely thankful.

Let your roots grow down into Christ Jesus and let your lives be built on Him.

Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught,

and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:7

So much teaching in the bible is about thankfulness, gratitude and contentment, yet, if I’m truthful, that is not my default setting. Maybe I’m not the only one if so many of the scriptures talk about it?

I know someone who is a ‘glass half full’ personality. I do envy this aspect of her character. It seems to come very naturally to her. As a ‘glass half empty’ kind of a gal, I know I need to think twice (or maybe more!), look at things from a different perspective and to actively seek contentment.

My holiday gave me that space and, in the glow of rest and relaxation, I am definitely thinking more positively about things at the moment.

I also know that I get a bit gloomy after a holiday, especially when I’m back at work, days are fuller and the pace of life is less leisurely.

Which is why I’m glad I remembered a Dr Seuss quote whilst we were away - to prepare me for those moments…

I can look back on all those memories and smile very fondly. It was a special holiday to celebrate our 30th anniversary (not til November, so we’re pre-empting we’ll actually reach that milestone - haha!) and it exceeded our expectations!

Now I’m refreshed and hopefully ready to tackle what’s coming!

My tasks this week:

  • prepare stock for hallmarking

  • ensure I have sufficient kit for teaching another class later in October

  • begin to upload more products to Poema’s Etsy shop

  • I’m also hoping to treat myself to a new tool or two following ‘workshop envy’ at Summer School in August! Cheeky eh?

And my secret project I teased you with last time will get it’s full reveal in October, so I’m looking forward to that! (Little hint - there’s a link with the author of the quote above…oooh, mysterious!)

Here’s a small selection of the 800+ photos I took - so many included the kaleidoscopic sky and perpetual movement of the sea:

A little reminder of dates you may be interested in… Here’s a summary of where I shall be in the lead up to the festive season:

  • Thursday 9th November - Open House

  • Saturday 11th November - Open House

  • Friday 24th November - Christmas Fair @ St Paul’s Church Bursledon

  • Sunday 26th November - Colden Common Winter Market

  • Wednesday 29th November - Eastleigh College Christmas Fair

  • Saturday 2nd December - Bishopstoke Park Christmas Fair

  • Saturday 16th December - CRY Christmas Carol service and market @ KCC Hedge End

And don’t forget, you can always find me on Etsy, via email or Messenger!

Until next time, I pray you ‘overflow with thankfulness’, as Colossians reminds us.
