Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.
Psalm 25:4
This was my prayer early this year and as with many journeys, it can take a while to get going. We need to know the destination and the route we need to reach it.
Will it be the most direct?
Will we take the scenic route?
And there's preparation, planning and packing before we can get going.
We could of course, just head off without thought for the best route but that can be fraught with frustration and delays, can't it?
We can get stuck in traffic or get lost along the way.
And it's always handy to know where the next service station is for refuelling and comfort breaks!!

So, the early part of this year has been praying the scripture above and discovering the right path for me in this season of my life.
I believe God has shown me the direction He wishes me to take and I am trusting He has led to the right path.
With this comes a change of direction. Not only for me, but five of us in my family are each encountering change over the coming few weeks and months.
It's exciting - on the whole!

If you are not aware, alongside Poema, I also work in an office. (Over the years I have juggled up to 5 jobs at any one time. Thankfully, I have now streamlined my life to a more manageable level - five jobs was a tad crazy with 3 kids!!)
So, change No. 1 is swapping one office admin role for a new one. After over 7 years, I am off to pastures new in the coming week.
Eeek - exciting but a little nervewracking!
Change No. 2 begins in September when I embark on a new learning experience. Having spent a couple of years learning how to make jewellery from workshops, taster days, YouTube and general trial & error, I am getting serious! I will begin a year long diploma course to grow my understanding and skills and hopefully develop a wider range of designs in the future.
So, I am preparing for the journey! I am now armed and dangerous with a new and powerful blowtorch and some new hammers! If all the various forums I am in are to be believed, new tools are beloved by all jewellers!! And apparently there are never enough hammers in your kit!!

generously gifted tools which will be used often - I have great plans for them
Along the route so far, I am getting to know a few other course members: both those who are already working through it this year and others who will be starting at the same time as me. What I have seen of the projects so far, they look incredible! I can't imagine creating such intricate pieces but apparently it is possible - so that's thrilling! Although I am nervous about having my work scrutinised for assessment and marking, I know it will be a fabulous way to know where my strengths and weaknesses are, and will help my skills to grow.
Be warned, you will be hearing the highs and lows once I begin!!
May each of us remain in step with our Father God and He continues to point us to the right road to follow.
