We are fortunate to live close to the New Forest in the south of England. It is a beautiful place and somewhere I should make time to visit more.
Last weekend, hubby and I were reminded of this gem on our doorstep when we visited Brockenhurst Donkey Walks.
I have recently changed jobs and the wonderful colleagues I had worked with for nearly three years gave me a fabulous gift of a donkey walk - because they got to know me quite well and knew my fondness of donkeys!!
I had no idea what to expect but we couldn’t have asked for more! Although the weather was a typically British for a bank holiday weekend, we were introduced to Mr MacGreggor and Maisie before enjoying a peaceful and relaxing walk, at donkey-pace, breathing in the clean New Forest air and enjoying the tranquil surroundings!
After our ambling, we returned and gave our new long-eared friends some treats (carrot, ginger nut and a polo mint in case you were wondering!) and cuddles before saying our fond farewells.
The weekend before, I had the joy of a weekend in Sidmouth with friends. If you know that area, you will know Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary is a popular local attraction. My friends were kind enough to indulge me with a visit, so I’ve definitely filled my calendar with donkey-related activities!
Then earlier this week, I discovered we have ‘World Donkey Day’ - who knew?
